The Sacred Womb

What Is Womb Healing?

Melanie Swan Season 4 Episode 3

To heal our womb means to dissolve all the ‘stuff’ we’ve been holding in there, restore its true purpose and reconnect the whole womb centre with the rest of our system.

To do this we need to consider six aspects:

  • the physical womb
  • the metaphysical womb
  • gestation: time in our mothers’ womb
  • the split of unified energy into masculine and feminine
  • the collective womb
  • detox and nutrition

This episode is an overview of these elements – and over the coming few months I’ll be releasing an episode going deeper into each aspect.

THE PHYSICAL WOMB: THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE
The menstrual cycle is a whole cycle, and its purpose is to guide us to embody our full range of states of being each month. This range differs during different chapters in our lives. So to restore the true purpose of the cycle, we need to be able to tune into the natural undercurrent of this cycle every day.

THE METAPHYSICAL WOMB: THE ENERGETIC WOMB
The blueprint upon which the physical womb forms. It contains all the information about how we feel about being a woman:

  • generational imprints
  • subconscious beliefs from other lifetimes and our soul’s journey
  • cultural & social programming

These beliefs can have to do with what it is to be a woman, disliking the subjugated position we’ve held in society is a big one, deep down for women. It often shows up as not wanting to be a woman, and that needs unblending from not liking the position women have collectively been in.

GESTATION: THE TIME IN OUR MOTHERS’ WOMB
During our time in our mother’s womb, we are alive, we are conscious and our attachment template, brain and nervous system are all forming in response to mum and our environment.

This process incorporates not only gestation but also:

  • The place we were at before we incarnated ‘between lives’
  • conception
  • landing in the womb
  • gestation
  • landmark events
  • birth

This is powerful work and I will be releasing an episode solely on this topic.

UNIFICATION OF OUR MASCULINE & FEMININE ASPECTS
I have produced a full podcast on this, so I’ll just summarise it here.

So basically, as women – when we restore our true masculine nature and unify it in the body with our feminine energy, it helps to restore and embody our internal authority, internal structure and ability to bring energy into matter.

THE COLLECTIVE WOMB: RESTORING OUR CREATIVE SOVEREIGNTY
Our metaphysical womb is connected to The Great Mother, to which all wombs are connected. Even if we don’t feel it, have turned away, or don’t believe it exists, the connection is there.

Speaker 1:

Hello, hello, welcome back to the podcast. Oh, I've been looking forward to sharing this one with you. It is what is womb healing. So I've been crafting this for a while and structuring it in a way that is as clear as I can be, because I think it can be quite sort of hard to pin down sometimes or describe, or we hear a lot about it, but what's actually in the nuts and bolts of it? How do we do that? So I'm going to go through five aspects and, yeah, I'm just going to go into what my work is with them.

Speaker 1:

Anyway, different people have different strands of the work, and that's really needed. We're all part of the whole and you know working with our different threads. So this is my take on it in the work I do. So we've got five aspects the physical womb, which is the menstrual cycle. The metaphysical womb, which is obviously the energetic organ, the matrix upon which our physical womb is is built, and then we've got the split of unified energy into masculine and feminine parts. So I've done a whole podcast about that, but I'll summarize in this one too. Then we've got our relationship with the collective womb and our creative sovereignty, and then detox and nutrition. So that's going to be a short narrative on that one, because that's not my specialist area, but it does. It is an essential part of healing our womb center. I've seen I've been around the kind of spiritual healing circuit for 20 years now and I've seen that some people only take account of energy and therapeutic work. Some people only do detox and nutrition and what really helps and what really works is if we take account of both as well, so that so really both are needed, because of course, crap in crap out. So yeah, I'll just point you to the resources that are helpful for me on that, but yeah, just take it into account when you're healing.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so I'm going to start off with talking. What does healing mean? The word healing means to become whole, and what's happened to our womb is it's been sort of split off, pushed away, pulled away from because of all our kind of generation, generational soul's journey, um period, pain, societal programming, I mean the list goes on really. So everything to do with our womb center is sort of seemingly kind of painful and shameful and to be kind of pasted over. So we are moving in our current times towards something different, more towards more a love-based relationship with our body. However, I do feel that we've got a really, really long way to go before it's just naturally part of our culture again. So there's loads of reasons for the split and I'm not going to go into those today because I really want to focus on the elements that we need to look at to heal our womb, and that will cover it anyway.

Speaker 1:

So what happens is we split it off, push away, pull away from it. We're in pain, and almost the pain of being a woman, in a way, it comes down to a lot of the time and we hold stuff in our physical, metaphysical organs. Really part of the healing process is to clear that stuff and then to restore the true purpose of our womb and menstrual cycle, connect it in with the rest of the system and thrive as a whole being. So we can't do that in isolation. Let's call it womb-centered soul work, if you like, because we can't just heal our womb, because we've got all sorts of connections and beliefs about it. So we're taking account of our whole system when we're doing the healing work as well. So sometimes people come to me for womb healing and they say, oh, I just want to work on my womb and that's just not possible because we have to work with the rest of your system, because the rest of your system is connected. So we're coming at it from that angle and also just setting the scene for when we are healing we do need to look at the whole of ourselves, to look at the whole of ourselves. That's where we've been hurt, where we've hurt others and are continuing to hurt others, where we've hurt ourselves and where we continue to hurt ourselves, and also where we feel like we've failed or our failures, and that's our cross, our souls journey, as well as our attachment and our generational lineages. So those are the kind of guiding principles.

Speaker 1:

And, yeah, let's get into the physical womb now, the menstrual cycle. So first we'll look at the physical womb, the menstrual cycle. So the menstrual cycle is obviously a whole cycle and its purpose is to guide us, to embody our full range of states of being each and every cycle, and this range differs during different chapters in our lives. And so to restore the true purpose of the cycle, we do need and that is unique there are patterns. There are call them like collective patterns in our menstrual cycle. I know the four seasons is popular and that's okay. It's brought us further on than a flat cycle where we were just a bit horny sometimes and cried sometimes and bled sometimes, great. So all things are kind of for different stages, so that's been really, really useful in helping us understand. Yes, we have a complete cycle and we're going to feel different to different stages and we can, we can kind of utilize those. Once we're, once we're like harmonized with that energy, we can go.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I feel really outward today, I feel really social or I feel really inward and analytical. What can I do? However, there's there's a lot of women taking that and looking at those books and it's not, it wasn't the intention with those books to say there's a perfect cycle, but women are taking it as such and thinking, well, how can my cycle fit into that? And I don't get a superwoman day and I don't feel this. Then there must be something wrong with my cycle and what we need to move to doing is really looking at our cycle as our unique compass, our barometer of health, and that's spiritually, emotionally and physically, so that we're actually able to kind of read the language and understand the language our body is trying to express to us, rather than try and have a cycle that fits with somebody else's because it's just not going to happen. That is in itself a trauma response of trying to kind of fit and adapt ourselves in order for a sense of belonging, companionship and the hope for love.

Speaker 1:

So this is what I'm talking about by we can't just do cycle work, we can't just heal our womb in isolation, because that would be the opposite of healing. We need to really look at the whole system and how our menstrual cycle is interacting with the rest of our system, how our trauma is showing up in the menstrual cycle. Where, where do we dissociate? Where are we present? So it's it's a whole system thing and, yeah, we really need to be able to feel the undercurrent of our own cycle at different stages of our lives so that we can embody that.

Speaker 1:

I mean, like, take that energy and feel like, yes, I can be with this energy today and I can utilize it in everything I do. It is totally possible. I know it seems far off if you've got a nine-to-five job and you've got two kids and you've got this and you've got that, but it it really is possible. It takes a bit of work and it can feel kind of clunky at first, like because it does bring stuff up because it is within the body, so it's going to bring charge up, but it has huge potential to be this lovely thing, compass guide pulsing center that really helps us come into all fruit of the cycle and expression, every single, every single cycle. So, yes, I wanted to end on a kind of nice note with that one, because it definitely all of this is possible, because I'm doing it and I work with women all the time who are doing it.

Speaker 1:

But we do need to take it as part of the rest of our system. Um, you know, I've seen so so many women just trying to do cycle work and whilst it does help, it doesn't. It doesn't actually clear our trauma, um, and we can get stuck in loops by thinking that that's our cycle, blah, blah, blah. I'm sure you get the idea now, so I don't want to go on about it. I feel like la, la, we, we just need to connect to the uniqueness of it anyway. So that is the menstrual cycle and I'll stop there, and then we'll talk about the metaphysical womb. Okie, dokie.

Speaker 1:

So the metaphysical womb, that's like the energetic womb. If we think about, if the physical womb isn't there for any reason, the energetic womb is and we have an energetic everything. So if our leg is amputated, we've still got the energetic leg. If our kidneys are taken out, we've still got the energetic organs. So, just like those we have, we have an energetic womb and it's like this. If you think of sacred geometry or a matrix, it looks like that and the the state of that matrix, the shape of it, the thickness of it, the kind of color of it, the vibration of it, depends on what we are carrying about being a woman, basically, and having a womb and being empowered and being able to create and being able to have babies and all the trauma that could come with that, basically.

Speaker 1:

So, within, when we're looking at the energetic womb, we're looking at generational imprints, that's, messaging from our lineages that have got stuck, that we're holding, that we're resonating with from our soul's perspective anyway, and these generational imprints, they sort of join with our beliefs that we're already carrying and they amplify them. So it kind of looks like oh, this is generational, oh, this is not mine. There is always, always a resonance within our own soul of to where we land, to which lineages we land in. It's just a frequency match. It's really straightforward. So if you're thinking about, oh, this is generational, it's not mine, it will be somewhere. And just doing generational work, um, it doesn't actually resolve it. It helps, but then it. You know, if we do that first, then we can clarify. Oh, I've also got a soul imprint as well. If we do the soul work first, then sometimes we have to go and do the generational work as well.

Speaker 1:

So what I'm trying to get across to you in this episode is that we cannot heal the womb in isolation. I know I keep saying this, but I feel like I'm going to be saying this for the next five years. We really need to look at it in the context of a whole system how we've pushed away and then that's going to lead us to how we reconnect and how we embody. So another aspect of healing the energetic womb, this matrix upon which our physical womb is built we need to look at subconscious beliefs built up, pain from other lifetimes and our soul's journey. So people describe this differently. It could be past lives, it can be parallel lives, it can be other lifetimes, it could be our split from source.

Speaker 1:

Personally, I don't see it as past lives anymore. I see our consciousness as like a tree if you cut a tree and you've got the stump and there are just all these rings rippling out and I see this life as the central ring, the smallest one, where everything's compressed and we can see everything and we kind of forget about all these other rings and these expressions of who we are or our consciousness. That might be kind of manifesting in different ways, but we can't see it. So in the soul work, we look at all of that again victim, perpetrator, rescuer, states, as well as the deep attachment work and the work that the experience we had in our mother's womb, which is also so important because that creates our attachment template. So, yeah, again, I'm just trying to give you the whole context of this so that when you're thinking about your womb center, it's ah, what, what might I be carrying, what beliefs might I be carrying, what experiences might I have had, what beliefs might I be carrying, what experiences might I have had, what pain might I be storing? And really, what's underneath all of that? I mean, let's not focus on the pain too much what's underneath that?

Speaker 1:

Why do we have a womb? Apart from bringing physical children through, it's got another purpose as well. So, yeah, we've done generational imprints, subconscious beliefs from other lifetimes in our soul's journey and attachment patterns yeah, we've got to look at our attachment patterns as well that are formed in our mother's womb and our incarnation and conception and these affect our relationship with ourself. This is really where our relationship, self in this life and our current psyche, which is like a fresh psyche each lifetime. It's where all that forms. And, of course, we're in a womb for nine months Now. We might check in and check out. Our spirit might go in and out. That sometimes does happen. But really we're getting all sorts of messages about womb.

Speaker 1:

When we're in our mother's womb, a lot of the work I've done, we I see women landing in their mother's womb and people work with men as well sometimes. But people landing in their mother's womb and it's quite barren or it's kind of got black stuff, or it's all clumpy, or there were some cobwebs, or it's damp and dark and it's not full of love. That is the common theme. It just there isn't much love there at all. So we, we're giving our children, we're giving each other like a really strong experience of being in the womb straight away and what it is to have a womb and what it is to be a woman, whether you're male or female in the womb.

Speaker 1:

So we really need to be changing this and, whether or not we're going to have a baby, it's so important to fill our womb with love because if we do, we want our babies landing in love. And it's really kind of simple to start that. If you're listening to this, you're like, oh my god, I want a baby. It's okay, we can do something simple. We don't have to do years and years of therapeutic work. You can do something today and just put your hand on your heart and one hand on your womb and start breathing love down to your womb from your heart. Do it if you're wanting a baby, do it every single day. If you're pregnant, do it every single day if you're not, do it every single day because it's our power center, it's our center of code creativity, and why wouldn't we want love in our body? So okay. So that's generational soul's journey, attachment and time in our mother's womb.

Speaker 1:

And then we've got all the cultural crap programming. It is crap. It's a load of absolute crap about being a woman, about hiding our periods, about them being dirty, about them being messy, about them being this, about them being that. It's just a load of crap and we just need to look at what we're carrying, see how it's affecting us and then just dissolve it because yeah, and learn from it.

Speaker 1:

Really, so it when I work with women, that the subconscious belief that often comes out is that we don't like being women. There's and it gets. You can imagine what that does, because it's it's actually the dislike of being in a subjugated position and that's. We've had that for generations and centuries. So no wonder there's built-up pain, no wonder we've pulled away from our wombs and forgotten what they truly are.

Speaker 1:

Um, so these beliefs need unblending and processing and just really taking us to go feel into what is my womb, what can it do, like what, what is it? And exploring its landscape. And there really is a whole universe unto itself within our womb and our creativity is driven by the state of our metaphysical womb as well. It is our creative center, or co-creative center, should I say, because we can bring through new consciousness. We're doing it with babies anyway. That is, consciousness coming through us, and so we can birth new ideas. But, again, can't just do it in isolation from the rest of our bodies. We need to be embodied enough to bring it through our whole system. Okay, all right then, but it is possible. I'll always I'll always end with a high note, I think, because there is a lot of stuff to get through, but it's definitely possible and it feels great and our womb can power up and it can pulse again and we can birth new consciousness and new ideas for not only personal development but the good of our collective consciousness. So, yeah, okay, okie, dokie.

Speaker 1:

So unification of our masculine and feminine aspects. So I've done a full podcast on this separately. However, I'll just summarize it here. So we have this energy within us that's been split into masculine and feminine. This reality is all about splits, splitting stuff out so we can see it, see our stuff, and bring it back into the whole of us. In my opinion, so and that's happened with masculine and feminine, of course we've got men and women, and we've got good and bad, and we've got yin and yang, we've got with us or against us, so we've got all these dual aspects.

Speaker 1:

So, but we can unify them. We definitely can unify them, and what it really massively helps with is our relationship with men, once we've unified it relationship with men and it helps to restore and embody our internal authority that the patriarchy is the opposite of that. It's external authority and hierarchy, but our true masculine energy is actually internal authority, internal structure and when these two aspects are unified, what it does? It lights up the womb and our ability to bring energy into matter. We can alchemize, we can think of ideas and we can bring them into the body and we can actually take them into projects, ideas, daily life, a painting, parenting, whatever we want to do. It means we're just connected more with our internal authority, our internal structure and ability to really sustainably support ourselves, our own energy system, um, yeah, so that's that one. Again, it's looking at our whole system. With this we've got attachment, we've got generational, we've got the soul journey work, um, but it can be exciting, it can be fun I really want to get that across is it's a real journey of discovery and it's just really helps to restore our true, true nature.

Speaker 1:

Okay, the last one on wombs is the collective womb. So this is restoring our creative sovereignty. So we've gone in and looked at and restored our physical womb, our metaphysical womb, unified our masculine and feminine aspects. By the way, this isn't linear. It all kind of goes on at the same time as we're healing, basically. So, yes, not linear, but I do have to explain it some way, so it's clear.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, now we come to the collective, we're restoring our creative sovereignty, and it's always about bringing us back into our seat of power and remembering that we are part of creation, that we are creators, and that's our truth, that's our true nature, and we create our reality. And at the core of ourselves, we are love and we can create with love, and that is evolution. And so womb-centered work is really. We're always orienting back to love, sovereignty and empowerment, and that's it. It can be that simple. I know it's not that simple to get there, and this I am offering a way of getting there, as are lots of therapists and psychotherapists and healers who've been working for years with this. But that's what we get into.

Speaker 1:

The pain is just the gateway to it. Let's not get stuck on the pain. Let's remember that we're actually getting to something that is love-based, that is empowerment, that is embodiment, that is sovereignty, so we can truly bring our unique frequency to the collective, and that makes a huge difference. It's not just me saying that, by the way I can see it, I can feel it. So, yeah, our metaphysical womb is connected to the Great Mother and all wombs are connected to this. Even if we don't feel it, even if we don't want it, even if we've turned away or don't believe it exists or feel abandoned by it, the connection is always there. It's just buried and forgotten and as we connect more with our womb and our bodies and our cycles and as women and as beings, we can remember it. It is there and there's really common experiences of really looking into the womb and seeing a whole universe and it's.

Speaker 1:

Women often describe this as like the missing piece in the healing process, because a lot of the, a lot of healing is focused on pain and what happened and our mother wound and our father wound and our this wound and our that wound. It's all valid, it all needs acknowledging, validating, processing, understanding. But there's something else. So, anyway, when we get to the core of it, we often don't trust this great mother, this great energy, this one true source, energy we're often like, oh you, what? Where the fuck were you? And that needs understanding, validating and processing and reconnecting with so that we can create from a place of love and a place of sovereignty. And I assure you that makes a big difference, not only to our own vibration but to the collective, okay.

Speaker 1:

So last one, I'm going to be really brief about this, because to work on our relationship with food is to work on our deepest attachment, our earliest contact with nourishment, with physical nourishment in this life. So I am not going to try and tell you to eat a certain way, cut out certain things at all. That's not my job and it's not my specialism either. However, we really need to look at it because if we are putting crap in that doesn't nurture our system and isn't conducive for our womb and we've got bugs in there and stuff, then we need to eat in a way that helps restore our womb center and our whole health. So I follow guidelines by medical medium. I've found them to work.

Speaker 1:

I'm not particularly bothered about, I'm not at all bothered, actually, about trends or eating this or the superfoods or this or that. I've just tried and tested what works for me and that works for me. So I've shared the link in the show notes and I will leave it up to you as to what you do. But I have noticed that if I'm working with people who are just only take trying to heal themselves with energetics and psychotherapy and and healing work and sound healing and all that kind of thing. It's all great, but if there's no or little attention to detox and nutrition and restoring ourselves physically, like that which obviously is energetically as well, then the process is just slower. And if we're just looking at nutrition and detox, then it does really really help, but we're not looking at the deeper, the deeper stuff within our psyche, then we also don't heal as well. So, yeah, we need to take account of both, but I'll leave it there, okay, okay, so we've done the physical womb, the menstrual cycle, the sacred womb, the metaphysical womb unification of our masculine and feminine aspects, the collective womb, restoring our creative sovereignty, and detox and nutrition.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I'm so glad to get this episode out. I've been, oh yeah, I hope it was really useful. I would love to hear your feedback. Does it feel clear to you? Does it feel overwhelming? Does it feel doable? I just love, as always, to hear how it lands, because that's that is why I'm doing this podcast to get all this information out, so that you can make your decisions as to what you want to do with it. Okay, all right, then I send you lots of love wherever you are in the world, and I will see you next time.
